I have a 74 sattelite 41000 org. miles 318 2bbl the car has a random bog on heavy acceleration. Seems to hapen after the tranny shifts from 1 to 2 or 2 to 3. I have tried the fuel filter and replaced it but this still hapens. any sugestions? |

Check the following: Accelerator pump Metering rods (Are they stuck?) Carter Power valve (Blown?) Holley OSAC valve removed? (If not, do so) Timing set wrong Blown Vacum pod. running too lean Vacum leak. Incorrect float level (not sure, help me out here.) |

well of your list I can rule out Timing set wrong-its the same as when I got it. Blown Vacum pod.-advance is disconected running too lean-on the bog I have been told I get some dark smoke not a lot though Vacum leak.-nothing showing on my vaccume gauge Incorrect float level (not sure, help me out here.)-wouldnt this cause a constant problem? |

Jeb had mentioned the accelerator pump. Have you fiddled with it to give you a bigger shot of gas? This has worked for me in the past.I have also gone up a couple sizes on the main jet with good results. JZ |

What knida carb you're using? carter? holley? if holley, you have center hung float or side hung? high float level can be giving you random failures especially "after shifting" as you mention (when the car "moves" up or down the front end and the carb "shakes" up and down it can spurt some gas down the barrels) also your bog can come from unhooked vac pod, when the tranny shifts and revs goes down your advance curve may be backing off too much... causing your timing to go on the retarded side (remember that less timing creates a "richer" condition) and producing the bog unitl your engine revs up again. I would certainly rule out "running too lean" if you're on a holley that's my 2 cents |

Try hooking back up your vacum advance, that may be your problem right there.l |
