Made you look, huh?

Inquiring minds want to know.....

Since I'm about 9-10 hours ahead I figured I be the first to ask the question everyone else has.

Give us details!

550 miles to get there, 11 NOS passes and 550 miles home, the Dacuda did fine in Vegas! The weather was good and the racing was nice.

7 Slant cars were there, 4 new racers. Seymour left early so 6 cars did the run-off for the money.
Jeffrey, Ericson and Dutra went to round 2, Dutra got the bye run & Ericson got the best of Mike. In the final, Dutra redlights to give Ericson the win.

I need to pull the photos out of the camera and get them posted but it's a quick "pit stop", next weekend is Redding. I got a few days to wash the car, change the oil and get a couple of NOS botttles filled!

Thanks for the rundown, Doc. So you drove the Dacuda there - great! Ericson is a newbie?

Can't wait to hear more,

Lou

I thrashed on the Dacuda for the last 3 weeks and it paid-off, the ran like a top and got lots of great comments.

This was the first race for Eric and Wayne Ericson, they had a nice Slant car and seemed to have a good time. As Dennis would say, I think we "set the hook" pretty good with that new father-son team. I will run with them again next weekend in Redding

I think it's so cool that a new father-son team took all the marbles! No disrespect to the serious, long time Slant 6 racers, I just love seeing new people show up, and for them to actually win their first event with us really helps to "set the hook" as Doug put it.

I want to know who all else showed up too. I've been hoping my friend Charlie Thompson from Tucson would get his car together and make it to a race. Rick Valent may have been one of the 7 cars, but I don't think Doug would have called him a new racer.

Doug's probably busy getting ready for Redding. Those back to back races are tough. I wish I had that problem to deal with. I'm sure we'll get more details after the Redding race.

Doug's Dacuda sounds as reliable as Seymour's Valiant. That's a great tribute to be able to drive a 30+ year old car that far, run that many runs on nitrous and back home again without issues. Those guys are my heroes!

Like you, I want the numbers to go with the rest of the story!

Just got in from Vegas.

Mike ran 12:40's @ 105, but was having handling problems with something in the front-end.

The F/S team with the really slick Swinger that won were running 15:90's. They have a motor from Mike that will get them into the low 12's when they get the car sorted out and ready for the killer plant.

Doug was in the low 16's I believe with his foggered 1 barrel Dacuda.

Rick Valent was running 18's with his 4-speed 4 door '62 Valiant taht even has A/C on it.

There was a gentleman there with a '66 Dart that was running low 16's with some tuning help from everyone there.

There was another older gentleman there with a '66 Dart that was running low 20's pretty much stock. The guy was killing the tree in time runs. He chopped a red eye for Mike in the opener though.

Slant 6 racer Romeo Furio (sp) and his lady Lynn were wed on the starting line Saturday. Romeo was nice enough to provide all the Slant folk in attendance with free passes to their wedding reception. Thanks Romeo!

I have some pictures I can e-mail someone if they would like to post them.

I thought that the MATS show itself was very well run and went off smoothly.

Oh yeah, I ran my rental Stratus in the Sport Compact race Sunday. The thing had been relativel;y consistant in time runs Friday and Saturday, and I had been pretty tight with the tree too. Sunday I ran a 14 second SRT-4, drilled him on the tree, and proceeded to break out a ton on the brakes when the Stratus inexplicably picked up 2 tenths out of nowhere.

Thanks for the update, Dman.

That's a lot of Midwesterners out there in LV!

Thanks guys. My need for a fix has subsided a bit now.

That "new Father/Son team" doesn't appear to be that new to drag racing!

It looks like Erickson earned it from seeing the results.

Why did Mike change his dial to match Erickson's in round 2? Was it because of the handling problem and he figured he'd just stay along side?

This race made a total of about 10 passes in the car for Aric.

Yep, Mike was worried about the shake and tried a sndbag job. It didn't work.

He sure is consistent and cuts some good lights. The car looks pretty serious as well. Lettered with Slanted Six and everything! Not your typical father/son entry level deal. And a Mike Jeffrey mill waiting to make 'em faster! It sounds like a solid new entry in the fray. :D

I'd love to hear their story. Has the Dad been a racer for years, Have they raced Slant 6s before, Does the son drive too, that type stuff. It would make a good story for the Newsletter. Did you or Doug get any contact information from them?

There goes my rookie of the year goal!

How many points is that? Damn! :(

Maybe I'll just take a year off from points and learn how to work the lights.

Damn! :x

Damn! :(

Sorry, I have to get it out of my system so I can congratulate the guy if I ever actually meet him.

Damn!

One more.....

Wait for it.......

Never mind, I'm done
