...you weren't paying attention Juan. I couldn't ever get a BBS Carter to run right on Kermit (my Valiant 4-door) and reverted back to the 1920 holley (Hey! Where's that Argentinian holley you promised me, by the way??! )

My main derision is aimed toward the 4150/60 series of holley four-barrels. They are complete and utter crap.

P. S. - I like my 1920 better now that it has a neato glass fuel bowl on it! :D I don't even mind so bad that it constantly seeps gas behind the pump diaphragm. The glass bowl doesn't distort or leak like the die-cast, either.

How do you keep the attaching screws tight without breaking the bowl :?:

It has a special retainer ring and four clips. The screws don't go thru the glass. Sealing is far superior to the cast bowl. I'm not sure the holley carb model. Some 1920's may have come with the glass bowl (on phords, I think), the one I got the bowl from appears to be a predecessor to the 1920. I bet Dan knows...

Yeah, it's a 1910 or 1902 or something. Id love to see a picture of one installed. Someone posted a link to a carburetor rebuilder that had exploded diagrams of all kinds of carburetors, I wonder if he has one?

I know about the risks of glass parts in the fuel system (breakage) but Im still tempted to go look for one. 8)

...you'd have to smack this thing pretty hard to break it - it's thick. Anything that hit it hard enough to break it (like a wreck) would likely knock the cheesy die-cast bowl off, too. But yes, I thought about the risk.

One thing: In order to use the 1920 baffle/float spring retainer, I had to secure it into the bowl somehow, the glass unit does not have the little locating "ways" molded into it. I split some aquarium air line and made a little piece to go around it and hold the baffle snugly in the bowl. No problems so far, but if it deteriorates I will split some clear plastic fuel line from an RC type engine.

Wild.

Did the old carb have a baffle in it? I should go root around at Roblins and see if they have one in an AMC.

Negative. (nor a float spring)

I GOTTA have one of those glass bowl 1920's. Is SOOOO nice...

Dennis, my carb swap has delayed this far. I'm saving the one I have installed right now for you, and that's a promisse. I hope to have things finished by Aug. If it's so, I'll be sending that carb with a friend of mine that'sm coming to visit the country. I'm telling you, man, you gonna love this carb. As far as anything from holley but 1922 and 2382 models, I also think they're crap.

Hey... what about osting that glass bowl pic into a shamc's thread? you gonna make his eyes roll backwars like in the movie the excorcist.
