Wanting to put a 8.25 sure grip in the wagon but,I was told there are different sizes depending on what gears you use ?

I have 83/4 and dana in my other cars so the 8.25 I'm not familiar with.

So is this a true statement on the 8.25 of different sizes ?

Thanks,
Bill

There are a few guidelines you need to follow:

1) axle shaft spline changes at 1997...so late 60's to 1996 will ahve the 27 spline housing/sure grip a stock A-body sure grip/housing would have.
2) housing change also between 2.26 to 2.45, and 2.76 to 4.56... you can't put the 2.76 up on the housing meant for a 2.45 or lower, and vice-versa
3) Dodge trucks commonly have what the service manual called the 8 3/8" rear under them...it's just a heavy duty version of the 8.25" so you can use the guts from one (pre-97) in your 8.25"
4) There also seems to be a split about 1972 with regards to bearings for some reason (all my rears are 1974+, so I never have worried...mostly this problem might occur if the axle or parts were used from a B/C body around that time period).

That should get you started.

Thanks,

That what info I was looking for and that's similiar to what I was told from a tranny/rear end guy but,not a Mopar person.

That will get me what I need for the car.

Thanks,
Bill
