1975 head and block, had a ton of work done to the head so lift is now .531 (for the clifford cam). will regular length pushrods now be worthless? is chrome moly worth it? |

How much have you shaved off the deck or head? That determines if you need shorter PRs. Cam has only a small effect. Lou |

Stock Pus Rods will work there. I had to go to shorter ones when I had taken 100 of the head and block. Greg |

so, a .010 difference from .090 made you have to shorten the rods? that makes me think I might need to get shorter ones now....... how much shorter than stock did you go? |

or did you mean .100 off of the head AND the block (as in each instead of grand total)? I am not sure what you mean. |

Actually you need to wait until you have the head and block assembled to see where your rocker arms hit the valve stem tips. Before that time, anything is just a guess. |

I would say a rule of thumb is that anything up to about 0.080" shave and you're safe, BUT I agree with Dennis that you really need to measure to get it right. Lou |

You still might be OK.....also depends on the base circle of your camshaft. I would do a mock-up and see where you're at. Also if you have installed valve spring with more spring pressure you might want to think about after market push rods. I found out the hard way. |

I never got shorter push rods. I have 0.100" of the head and a mild cam. there is still plenty of room for adjustments to the rockers. |

I was planning to use the clifford rods, is chrome moly worth the extra cash? the head work was designed to fit the clifford cam of .531 lift. |

I would say you "need" thicker pushrods, (and maybe shorter...) They are awfully long and thin... Just if the stock ones are too long |
