I swapped the original lock into my spare ignition switch. It works fine. I didn't stop to think that the lock could be removed, and put into another switch. I have to coax the key to work, but it is reliable. I little downward pressure , and she turns smoothly. Maybe I will take the lock that was in the spare and have it rekeyed, and keep it on hand for when the current one finally becomes impossible to live with.

On my dad's old Mack truck, you have to jiggle the key in order to get it to start. Going down the road you can pull the key out and it will keep on running.

I always found this so convenient on my old wagon--we had a gate we had to always open and of course the key was on my keychain. Nothing so nice as just pulling the keys while its running and unlocking the gate! :D
