Why type of spacer did you use on the lower pulley with your SC setup? Why did you go to seperate V-belts for the alternator and power steering, with a serpetine for the blower?

Does anybody know if the water pump has differant shaft lengths for differant body styles?

I had an aluminum spacer machined to connect the blower drive pulley to a cast 2 sheave crank pulley from a later model slant. This cast piece has 3 holes on the radial arms to hold a 3rd stamped pulley for the power steering option. I enlarged these holes to 3/8" and drilled new holes in the blower drive pulley to match.

I went with the sepentine for the blower because that's what drove it originally and therefore was a proven solution.

I stayed with separate belts for the alt/water pump and power steering because the load of all three at the same time can be large and I'd have to figure out a way to get enough belt wrap on the crank drive pulley and the water pump.

I moved the water pump pulley to the inner sheave by heating it with a torch, repositioning it (it becomes loose) and quickly cooling it.

I picked up the same lower pulley as you did. From my scrounging around it appears that all 3.8 v6 Fords used the same lower pulley. I also picked up a water pump pulley from a 5.0 with the non-reverse rotation water pump. Along with a adjustable idler pulley from another Ford (FWD V6) and an alternator from a chrysler mini-van I am going to attempt a serpetine setup with a GM M90. It should be an interesting attempt. I will also need to build an intake to mount the GM blower.

I had some concerns about using aluminum for the spacer. It looks like it needs to be about 3/16 to 1/4" in thickness. My dampener has six bolt holes, 3 are 3/8" and 3 are 5/16". If I remember rightly, the car that this engine came from had air conditioning. I plan to use them all. The Ford water pump pulley fits over the flange of the the \6s water pump, but the bolt holes are a half a hole off. It is also about an 1" in to far towards the engine and doesn't line up with the crank pulley. But it does line up with the grove in the dampener. Flipping it around also doesn't align them up either. I am not sure that a 1" spacer is a smart idea, it may but to much strain on the water pump bearings. Hence the question about the differant lengths of shafts on the water pump.

Searching the web shows a TR6 guy using a cadalliac dampener which includes the pulley. This may be a thought, anyway it looks like it is back to the junk yard looking for 6 groove pulleys. Some of those FWD cars sure seem to have some flat pulleys.

Keep it up, Kesteb. I have a Ford M90 in stock and am thinking about installations, but have other projects first.

Heh, all it takes is time and money and sometimes I have more of one then the other.

By the end of summer, I should have the pulley arrangement worked out and a mock intake manifold assembled. By then the Megasquirt guys should have the v3 board working and the problems with the MSII daughter board sorted out. Then I can continue on with the EFI.

Some day I just may have a supercharged \6 in my old dart.

Kesteb - sounds like you're having a whole lot of fun. I really get a kick out of making a diverse collection of parts into a seamless solution.

My spacer was 3/16" thick and I enlarged the bolt holes from 3/8" to 7/16". It has a concentric ring on the inside of the crank pulley and another on the inside of the blower driver pulley

Keep us posted on your progress.

It's not looking that way at this point - I'm scheduled to be in Dallas and then Brazil around that time . . . but I had a good time last year. It was great meeting you and your car and all the other guys.

Slanters, the Clay City race is highly recommeneded.
