Post subject:  Oil Consumption after Headers

Hey: Guys
I need Help
I installed a set of Clifford headers and dual exhaust a couple of weeks ago.
Elielimatede Egr valve and made a block off plate for it. I also got ride of a few extra vacvacumnnes that were not needed. I installed a manual choke re-set the idle and carb mixtures.
The car starts and runs great - has more power and sound like a tractor on steroids. - WAY COOL

The motor allwayallwaysabout a liter of oil in between changes but now has gone to the excessive side. I am using about a liter every tank. Just got back from a 2500km trip to the US and I used 13 liters of oil. I was towing a trailer with 2 quads on it, but the consumption is out of control.
The pipes are black but I don't see any smoke comming out of them.
Could I have done something wrong ???
Does stock intake manifold need to be heated ???
Did I elimated telimated lines ???

 :?:

I don't know if it would cause that kind of oil consumption but...

Maybe you set the fuel mixture too rich and the extra fuel is "washing down" the cylinder walls, causing you to use more oil.

What does your PCV system look like?

Pcv system looks ok the valve was just replaced a little while ago, but I am going to lean out the mixture a bit and see what happens.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. What I meant was, what modifications have been done to the PCV system? Do you have one (and only one) PCV valve, and one (and only one) crankcase breather?

Both the PCV and Breather system are still stock. I have 1 each - just as stock. I still run a closed air cleaner and the breather tube runs to the stock air cleaner. The pcv valve runs to the carb -I think - same location as stock.

Just a thought would not have and heat under the carb - stock manifold gone now make a didifferancen oil consumption. I mean the fuel not being burnt or atomized properly make a didifferance??
