I have a stone stock 65 Barracuda Formula S. The little AFB on it percolates. Upon taking it apart, fuel was everywhere (counterweight wells, etc). We put some fuel in the bowls, and the next morning, it was in the wells again. Do you think my main body casting is cracked or porous? Can anything be done to repair this if it is? |

Its always possible that the casting is porous, but if so then its ALWAYS been porous. They don't just "get" that way over time... It sounds like you just put fuel in the bowls and left it COLD though- if that's the case I don't see what it could be other than a porous casting. If this just happened when you shut the carb down after driving, then I'd assume its just the pee-water fuel we have today. It evaporates much easier than fuels of yore, and my *guess* at what's happening is that its boiling when the carb gets heat-soaked after shutdown, and then its re-condensing in the wells and all over the place. |
