hey again! got back from college around a week ago,pulled the dart out(67 gt /6) and got it going with gas and a chargerd battery, however, it has redevoloped a problem it had last summer, when it idles for very long then the carb starts leaking gas out of what appears to be some sort of overfill valve(holley 1920) its doing it pretty bad and sometimes when it has been idling to long it will die i think from flooding, not sure what to adjust and where its at, i know there are a couple screws to adjust it but im not good at adjusting it. when idling at first then it idles nice and low until it dies, any help would be appreciated! thanks p.s. might be doing an slant transplant from a 73 dart sedan to a 64 a-100 in the next couple months, if so, might need some more help, thanks guys! |

That sounds like the needle and seat is leaking a bit. It is leaking faster than the engine is using fuel at idle. It might just have a bit of dirt in it or it may need to be replaced. |

im not sure i follow entirely, and i dont think i explained it accurately either, so just to be sure: theres a little rubber lid type thing attached to a little arm on top of the fuel bowl, and thats where its coming from, just had this carb rebuilt not to long ago, the filter and line were kinda cruddy though, how would one go about checking this? thanks! |

That is your float bowl vent. It should only ever release vapors. if there is liquid coming out of it, it is because the carburetor is becoming WAY too full. If that is happening, then it is because the inlet valve is not closing, either because the valve itself is faulty or stuck, or because the float that operates it is faulty or stuck. The fuel inlet valve is the brass item that your steel fuel line threads into, on the passenger side of the carb.

i adjusted the float, overdid it to the point it wouldnt stay running  , so i adjusted the fuel/air mixture, now it idles nice and low, accelerates good, and doesnt pour gas down my engine, (i thought i had a horrible oil leak out of nowhere, was just dripping gas taking some grease with it) i also had alot of junk in the fuel bowl so i cleaned all that up, thanks alot!
