I am thinking about adding AC and tinted glass to my 72 340 Duster and am currently looking for a suitable parts car(s). I already have a 78 New Yorker parts car which will supply the 440.

Does the glass in all Dusters (70-76) interchange?

Are there any underhood AC components from the New Yorker that I could reuse on the Duster?

Frank

All the Duster/Demon/Dart Sport glass interchanges, '70-'76. Truthfully, the only reason I'd replace a good piece of factory glass with another good piece of glass is to get the embedded grid-type defogger in the backlight! Cheesy (Canadian Tire or "WE TINT YOUR CARS WINDOW'S JUST 99.99" etc.) window tint film is awful, but the good stuff is really, really good. I have had excellent success with the stuff made by Llumar. When applied by a skilled professional, it really does look as though it belongs, and it does a super job of reducing in-car heat and UV damage. Ontario's tint laws are vague at best, so tread carefully (or at least roll down the window BEFORE the cop gets to you after pulling you over!)

A/C brackets: At this late date, you're probably best just to use the Sanden bracketry. There's an excellent article at one of the Mopar magazine sites; my present connection is too slow to search for it. Check the other recent A/C threads for discussion of why the original big Mopar evaporator temperature regulation setup (EPR valve) is much less than optimal with R134a (remember, R12 can no longer legally be used to fill auto aircon systems in Canada).

I have had this car for over 13 years now and, sadly, the windshield and backlight got broken over the years. I thought that if I'm looking for a parts car with air conditioning, I might as well swap over the factory tinted glass while I was at it.

At least, now that I have workshop finally constructed (but far from finished), I was able to pull the Duster from storage out in my back field and put it under a roof last week.

I found out replacing some glass in my 66 valaint that if the glass is totally flat you can get tinted glass new cheaper then you can have tint installed.
Thats right you can relace the glass with brand new dark tinted glass then you can haveing the tint man do it.
Of course the front and rear windshield are curved so you can't do it cheaply with those.

I recently had a tinted windshield installed in my '73 Dodge truck and it was $180 installed at my house. The tinted glass was exactly the same price as clear.

Flat glass stopped in the A-bodies after '66.

Factory tint = almost no tint at all.
