I got this starter from a salvage yard last week for $20. It was tagged "318 Dodge." Is this the Nippondenso or something else? It looks like it may be a rebuilt after I scrapped off the dirt. I found a label stuck to it, looks like Dixie, Toronto, Canada. Also I see the outer end of the pinion shaft has no support bearing like the old gear reduction starters. Do these little starters come in different flavors? This same yard has several Caravan's with V6 engine. Do these have the starters that fit slant sixes? They don't even bother to remove starters anymore, they just crush them with the vehicle. I imagine I could buy them cheap before they crush them. ![]()

Looks like the one I run on my slant, $20 is a good price. I paid a lot more for mine. |

Yes, it's either the Nippondenso (now just "Denso") mini starter, or one of the nasty Chinese copies of the Denso unit. No, you cannot use FWD starters in a RWD vehicle; they don't fit. |
