Very tempting for me... Someone can make a nice EFI system with this piece.

Depends on what the reserve is for it, but its kind of scary when he can't promise a seal....

I think it was Rance who did Bobs mpfi setup for $460 according to his article, but that was some time ago so I don't know what the going price is now, but at least thats a guaranteed working setup. Somehow I get the feeling the auction price is going to reach that high.

Oh, I don't know...does anyone guarantee anything bought off eBay? For that matter, suppose you call up Clifford's and order one of their intakes. You're in for a special treat (not!) if you have a problem and need customer service from them!

I'm guessing it is his manifold seeing as item location and the city he has under his username in this forum are the same.

IMO, any ebay auction that says something like "It should work but I don't guarantee it...." is the equivalent of saying "I'm trying to get your hopes up so you can buy my item but you will be disappointed when you try to use it"

Oh, I think that might be a little harsh. Reads to me as if the guy is trying to describe the item as precisely as possible. And what he mentions (minor chatter marks in the injector bungs) certainly don't sound like they're worth worrying about. I've seen some pretty mayhem-licious machining on factory parts, and while they weren't pretty to look at, they also didn't do any harm.

Sorry, I didn't mean it to be harsh against this particular person/auction, but just ebay in general. Heard of too many stories of people getting burnt with situations like these.

Matt, maybe more detialed pictures of the imperfections may bolster potential buyers confidence.

why would the person who built this buy one of the lynx intakes rather then a regular aluminum one? are they that much lighter? or are the regular stlye harder to find? just curious, thanks

Probably to get straight-shot breathing from the throttle body clear through to the ports, without the restrictive 90° airpath bend of the stock type. Also no exhaust heat on this intake.

Post subject:  Why buy F.I.???

I posted the following as a question to the selller:

"So, kind sir, is anyone anywhere on earth actually RUNNING port fuel injection on a slant six engine with any success? The Clifford & Redline-Webber sites offer teases. The Slant 6 forum has no info. I get the feeling that If I bought your manifold and fuel rail that I would then have to build model 1, mark 1, NUMBER flippin 1 and then figure out how to do all the development work myself. Silly me, I just want to buy a system off the shelf that will bolt on, line up, turn on with the ignition switch and run and respond as well as my 2002 Durango, or my 14 year old Nissan pickup. That said, what do you have to offer to persuade me that I should bid on your item?"

As always I'm hoping for response, and information I can actually use.

1st, There are several members on this site running port EFI. If you do a search, you will find much info.
2nd, Don't know about Redline, but Clifford has left a lot to be desired, in customer service.
3rd, There is no "plug and play" EFI system for a slant. Any system will still need tweeking, usually with a laptop.
4th, He is selling it to someone that would like to build their own system. If that isn't your goal, then you shouldn't bid on it.

Ten minutes' time on this site and other linked sites would've had you at least five examples of same.

Horsepuckey. Spend your time doing your homework instead of writing sarcastic "questions" to ebay sellers and you'll get a lot more done.

You want a Toyota Corolla. I'm sure you've got a local dealer.

Um, you're kidding, right? It's not the sellers job to "persuade" you to bid on your item. It's not his job to wave his magic wand and turn what he has into what you want. You want what he has? Bid! You don't? Don't!

As always I'm hoping for response, and information I can actually use.[/quote]

Yes it's my intake. I suppose I should have included that on my post. My wife was harping on me to get off the computer.

I built this my self with the intention of running it. I used this one because I had it, it wasn't on the running car as is my Clifford, and its design is more conducive to dry service than wet.

There are more than a handful of efi slants out there, some daily drivers, and multitudes of successful installs on other odd, originally non-computer controlled engines. Your success is limited to your willingness and imagination (and$$). I have both a megasquirt system and one of 034efi.com's fuel&spark computers (highly recommended), both are proven and very capable systems. There are other good systems, but none that I'm familiar with. Like my buddy says "There are many ways to kill a cat besides stuffing it's arse with bricks..."

I was set to finish this piece and run it, but I acquired a bunch of Suzuki Hayabusa parts, which will allow me to run an Individual TB setup. That’s another story...

Like I said in the add, the intake is new, then bungs are perfect. The fuel rail is probably better than most you'll buy elsewhere, and I would run it without issue. I machined it in the mill, pilot drill, final drill (0.015" undersize) then finish ream to final dimension, then chamfer. The speed may have been a little off on the ream resulting in slight chatter, not enough to feel with my finger. I just want the buyer to know. If they don't want the fuel rail, I'll keep it. I've seen much worse on both OEM and aftermarket, and I've seen them work without issue. If you put a used injector in there with a rock hard, un-lubricated O-ring, issues may arise.

The reserve is less than many new intakes...
