i have a 59 dodge d 100 truck with a slant six ,how would i find out if it was original ,it appears to be stock

The standard engine in a '59 Dodge was the 230 flathead six. The slant wasn't available in a truck until the '61 model year. Somebody must have retro-fitted the slant into your truck. See here for some history. http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/ram-history.html
