| Post subject: | Voltage Limiter Question |
I finally recieved my new gas tank after a three week wait. (it seemed like 3 months) I put in the new sender and made sure that the ground was perfect (or as near as possible). NOw it seems that I have the old temp and fuel gauge no workie problem. I think that I have read enough in these boards to know that it may most likely be that little half a volt limiter up behind the dash cluster. Is this a part that can be bought new or will I need to go to the salvage yard and hope for the best? Chas/// Well off to DVM to finalize ownership! (Oh by the way it's a 1975 dart swinger 2 dr HT slant six) |

IT's actually a 5-volt voltage limiter. You can get a replacement from NAPA, Echlin number IR-9, or from a Standard-Bluestreak stockist, number VRC-601. Or, if you're electrically handy, you can make your own solid-state version as described and depicted Here (this is a reprint of Rick Ehrenberg's "Mopar Action" article). |

Just read the article that you suggested. I could do that too. I do have an accetylene torch for the fine soldering. (just kidding) I worked in automotive for a big utility company for 17 or so years. We were mostly parts changers and maintenence, but ocassionaly had to improvise to get our guys on the road daily. |
