Just wondering what hastles I 'm going to have swaping a 225/904 from a 69 dart to a V8 66 barracuda. I notice an electical connection in the 69 904 that the 66 904 didn't have anyone know what it is? Also will the 69 /6 pan clear my 66 V8 steering? I have the correct motor mounts from a 66 /6 car so it should bolt in right?

Did the 66 model car have backup lights? if not, that is probably your answer. Backup lights were not required for many years and the 69 might have a backup light switch were as the 66 might not.

It should still have provisions for neutral safety though, shouldn't it?[/quote]

Neutral Safety Switch through 1967 was a single-wire, single-function item. The reversing lamp switch on pre-'68 was inside the passenger compartment (on the steering column w/column auto or manual, in the shifter w/floor auto or manual, behind the reverse button slidecard w/pushbutton). Starting in '68 or '69, a 3-pin combination Neutral Safety/Reverse Lamp switch was used.

Electrical connection already answered. You'll need the 3-pin socket that fits the '69 combo Neutral Safety/Reverse Light switch, just figure out which pin (centre, maybe?) is for Neutral Safety and hook your '66's one and only wire to the trans to that pin. Carry on using the existing reversing light switch already installed and probably working fine in the '66. No problems with steering linkage or anything else.

Thanks for the help. Only MOPAR can make such a mundane swap so fun and technical. Easy swaps are for GM owners.

Need to use the 66 oil pan and oil pickup. The 69 pan will hit on the "K" member. As for the mounts, do you have the 63-66 engine brackets, or just the rubber insulators. You need both. You might also need a different speedometer cable. I don't remember if the speedo connection is the same on the 66 and 69 trans.

Yep, it is ('66 was the first year for that style). Good catch on the oil pan.

Is the problem with pan clearance the K-member or the steering center link?
If so the V8 center link and /6 center link are different. The V8 is lower?
Just don't want go out to the junk yard and pull a pan If I don't have to.

As far as the engine mounts, only the driver's side mount is different.
Checked them yesterday.

The problem is with the pan rubbing the "K" member. With the 63-66 pan, it doesn't matter which center link you use. The V-8 requires the "dropped" center link, but the slant can use either link.

Not really sure what you mean. The steel "engine bracket", or the rubber "insulator". Lets try this. These are Chrys part numbers.

64-66 engine brackets (slant) 2264668, and 2265023
64-66 insulators (slant) 2264140, and 2265018

67-69 engine brackets (slant) 2532278, and 2806841
67-69 insulators (slant) 2806844, and 2806842

V-8 brackets and insulators are different then the slant items.
