Hello folks,

After reviewing old posts, I gotta call for help! I am redoing my '64 d100 1/2 ton shortbed /6 stepside truck. I thought the motor was all done until yesterday I attempted to put in in the oil pickup/sump/pickup tube unit. and found the screen can't work with the pan I have. What I need is a front pickup tube and my dealer supplied a rear unit. The one I have is a Melling 66S5, and with no picture to look at, I wonder if anyone knows if Melling's 66S4 is the front unit?

Problem is that when rotated to the front of the block the one I have has oil screen is 180 degrees tilted the wrong way for the pan. I realize I could cut the tubing and rebraze the unit together, but that is a bit much if 66S4 works.

The truck has a front pickup so the pan will clear the I-beam axle. This morning I will try to take a pic of my oil pan...it is a true front sump pan and in the discussion about 18 months ago Doctor Dodge noted he hadn't seen a factory front sump pan. I got this truck new so I know this is factory, (along with seriously heavy duty oil pump and crank).

Anyone know 'bout truck oil parts?

I think I have what you need. I picked up a free engine from a 1968 PowerWagon, with front sump. I will not need the truck related stuff, and would give it away, as it came free to me.
There is the pan & pick up, bell housing for a 4 speed manual, the carb linkage looks to be truck as well.

WOW! A gift from the gods! I will gladly take the sump, pan, bellhousing, linkage, heck even the xmisssion if what I am searching out. Clutch, fork, flywheel, all of it. Please email me at rock@intrex.net and I will get you $$ for shipping and packing.

Is this Rock from the Sweptline.org website?? If so hello, if not, hello anyway :lol: :lol:

And according to your post, I'm in trouble....I ordered sight unseen a rear sump pan for my 64/Early 65 D 100 Sweptline engine project without checking first......ut oh....looks like I may have a really pretty rear sump reconditioned pan for sale soon :oops:

I really need some more quality time with that truck before ordering anything else......it's in storage and not always convenient to visit when I run accross things I think will fit :?

Here's a helpful guy when looking for A100/D100 stuff, a little pricey at times, but he seems to have a good continuous supply line.

Yep, tis the rock from from sweptline.org.. How nice to meet again in ether space! Uhhh, you may have a problem sure 'nuff. Saturday morning at the machine shop was like giving birth in a hospital...the /6 was on the assembly table surrounded by me. some fuelie guys, some big block chevy guys, and a Hudson Hornet freak..all into the 6 and its killer crank...as we turned sump in and lowered the pan, no go. VERY disappointing. Everyone of course offered insight how to do it, but we all see no way to use the rear sump except by cutting the tube, turning the screen 180 degrees and brazing it back. Or find the right sump. FYI this wrong sump was discounted to $22.34 if someone needs rear sumps. Followingdirections in the FAQ's I will post a link to a server where I can post the pics. I was going to make a cardboard look alike of the rear sump pan and try it up against the block, but crawling around under there tonite showed me the futility. It might work if your truck never bounced. Bouncy = crushy pan. Tthanks for the URL to the parts place. More later, I want to make a donaton to Chuck before I use the services here more. I have got LOTS of good help here.

OK, I put my hands on it. I have the pan, pick up, dip-stick laid out. I will find a box tomorrow at work. If I find a suitable box, I will box up all this stuff, and ship together. If not, the pick up alone will head your way this Wednesday.
