saw a few at the junkyard. sucked on thier vacuum advance can tubes, and the guts moved with no leaks. suck on my dist vac advance tube and i get a steady stream of air. can bad? whats required to make the switch? can i just switch distributors? |

You also need the Control Module to go with the distributor and I believe a different value ballast resistor. I have all of mine upgraded, saves a lot of headaches. ![]() The module will want a very constant voltage also so if you have a points type regulator, upgrade to the solid state Mopar, or Summit has a racing version that I prefer since none of my slants are daily drivers. I've also used Pertronix in the past which will allow you to use your existing set-up and distributor but sounds like your distributor vacuum advance can needs attention first. |

Any electronic distributor with a vacuum advance will work as a starting point; you'll probably want to recurve it. That topic has been covered extensively here in the past. As far as what kind of module to use, see Here. |

That is one great article on the HEI conversion, looks almost simpler than converting from points to Mopar Electronic. |

Well, it's about the same amount of actual work, and you use the same (Mopar electronic) distributor, but you don't have to futz around with a ballast resistor, and the HEI module is both smaller and more powerful. I like this conversion a lot.
