okay...the oil light came on the other night...i checked the oil and put more in; light stayed on. tonight i changed the oil (wondering if the filter might be clogged); light is still on...
i know i have two other things i could try- sending unit/sensor or (i hope not) the oil pump.
ideas on what to do?
please :(

Post subject:  Have you?

Have you checked to make sure the wire to the sensor is still on the sensor and not grounding out against your block...

Had a buddy go over a nasty pothole and the wire jumped ship on his valiant many eons back... he saw the light go on and thought he lost the pan...after some investigation with a flashlight and using a set of pliers...we were back in business...

hope it's just that simple, make sure to check and see if the wire might also have a spot in the insulation thats worn and rubbing on the mill either...

K&N air filters don't do hardly none of the crap they hype on tv. They actually filter more poorly than paper filters and let a lot more crap into your engine. I suggest you get an air cleaner assembly off of a post 76 Volare or Aspen. those had a cold air intake system. Helps alot.

well that post would help...but my oil light is constantly on...as to the other suggestion about the wire; i'm gonna get my flashlight in a second cause i think i didn't see any insulation on it (this may be the problem, i hope). otherwise she still runs great.

checked the wire...disconnected it from the unit and the light turned off. reconnected it...light came back on.
anyone have a good part # for a cheap oil pressure gauge?
and how to install it (it doesn't have to be permanently secured in my dash, i'd like to keep that as original as possible, i just want to see my pressure).

if it might give any other ideas i used 10w-40 oil (castrol GTX high mileage-never done me wrong before)

thanks guys
she's still running like she won't ever stop....

I'm a very impatient SOB, sometimes  Seriously, wasn't meant to be rude, I simply fergot all the little rolly eye smiley face things to help take the edge off my comment. ...that, and I couldn't believe that with all the going back and forth, no one else had yet offered you that simple advice. Just remember, don't complicate things any more than you have to! ...and, yeah, it's still a good idea to hook up an inexpensive gauge on any old car that only has an idiot light. Go get one, and I'll give you some helpful hints as to hooking it up - or search the old posts.

Post subject:  Fram filters

MOPARDUSTER posted a coment about Fram filters I asume he was refering to the air filter. But I have heard other negative comments about Fram oil filters.
I have always used Fram products and I don't think I've had a problem with them.

So the question is: Is there a ongoing problem with oil or air Fram filters???

Yes, there is a problem with fram oil filters.

Post subject:

get rid of the fram and get a wix. if you have a oil gauge on you will see the raise in pressure. look at the different in the holes.

this is for the oil filter for wix and napa 51608 1068]

try it you will notice how crapy fram is you may pay a little more for the wix but it well worth it

Check out here http://www.wixfilters.com/ you can look up the filter and see were you can get it if napa dont have them
