hello,
I am new to the 225 world and was looking for some knowledge about tuning the singe bbl.
The car runs great, but it bogs out if I press the gas too quickly from a stop...I have to ease slowly into the throttle to start or the engine will die. I'm guessing this is a carb issue. Any tips on how to resolve it?

Sounds like an accelerator pump problem. Take the air cleaner off, look down into the carb (not with the engine running!) and work the throttle with your fingers. Do you see a stream of gas shoot into the venturi? If not, you probably need to replace the accelerator pump diaphragm.

i may be new to the 225 world too...but i wonder...does it only happen when the car isn't warmed up?
i've only ever owned carbureted vehicles and that always seems to happen to me while it's still warming up.
it may be simple, but it could be possible...

i also wish ti tune my 1bbl carb. somtimes when going from revers to drive my car just dies out. ist that a carb problem or somthing more serious?

I think this post will cover the possible causes of both problems. Of course more details about the condition/upkeep of these cars would be helpful to the diagnosis.
Stalling between reverse and drive isn't always indication of serious problems. It's usually a sign of needing a tune up. A proper tune up is more than just adjusting the carb. Here is a list.

Spark plugs,
Wires,
Distributor cap and rotor,
Points and condensor (if present)
Valve adjustment, you'll need a replacement valve cover gasket
Fuel filter,
Oil and filter change,
PCV valve,
Replace any cracked or hardened vacuum lines and hoses,
Air filter,
Check timing setting,
Check manifold gaskets for vacuum leaks (common on old slant sixes)
Adjust carb LAST!

This should be about $100 worth of parts, a little more if you buy premium stuff, and you should. Parts that are only a couple of years old arn't 'new' any more and should be replaced along with the rest of the list.

If this doesn't fix it, echo back the list of things you've recently replaced and you will get better attention because this list easily cures 80% of the questions and problems asked in this engine forum.

I think if it is an emmision(post 1973) era car, there is an osac valve on the firewall with a hose coming from the dist and a hose going to the carb, disconnect the hose from the dist at the osac valve plug it in the carb after pulling the carb end of the hose from osac valve...no bogging on stop light take offs.
