Running a 500 Carter 4bl. on my homemade slant manifold.
The PCV hose goes onto the proper outlet on the carb.
However I want to try running an old Holley 390 made in
1962 before PCV, so there is no outlet on the carb.
Can I run the hose to an outlet on the plug that's in the manifold
locatied on runner 6?

You can,,,but that cyl will run lean all the time. Try tapping into the plenum.

Im not sure Holley made a 390cfm carb before 62....

Sandy- it's my guess that the Holley is about 390. Its a 2464 list, which
was a factory Rambler 327 carb for 1962. The throttle bores are actually
1/16 smaller than the 8007 390 Holley and jet sizes are similar.
What and where exactly is the plenum? Can you get a pipe thread
tap or should I use something else?

The plenum is the central area of the intake manifold, where all the runners come together, under the carburetor. Sandy's right, running the PCV to runner six will cause that cylinder to run lean all the time.

Drill and tap the plenum at the outboard (driver's side) end of the manifold to accept a fitting with pipe thread on one end and a 3/8" hose nipple on the other.

Thanks Sandy and slantsix Dan. I went down to the one
local parts store where the counterman still knows something
about cars. Got a tap and the 1/4 x 3/8 brass fitting.
Instead of putting it in the plenum tho (which I may do later),
I installed it into a one inch spacer which goes of course under
the carburetor. This should accomplish the same thing I think.

Yep, the spacer trick works.

If your manifold has EGR provisions, you can also drill and tap an EGR block-off plate.
