| Post subject: | antifreeze in cylinders |
For all of the knowledgeable folks out there in slant six land, I just removed my head for the 1st time. I carefully loosened each bolt from the middle out, slapped it a few times with a rubber mallet, and off she came (what a job). When loosing some of the bolts, I could hear a vacuum, sucking sound, then noticed antifreeze coming out of one of the spark plug holes. Yes, I did drain the radiator first. When I removed the head I found antifreeze down in 2 cylinders. Is this normal? Thanks for any info/ guidance Jim '76 Scamp /6 |

Draining the radiator does not drain the block. There will be some coolant left in the block/head that will leak into the cylinders as you tilt the head, no big deal. If your worried, you can have the head and block magnafluxed to check for any cracks (which you may as well do since everything is apart anyway esp if its a high mileage motor) |
