I am still in the planning stages of adding a Super Six setup to my engine. I have read some articles about Por 15 rust stopper. Has anyone used this product? Also, is it worth applying the Por 15 manifold paint to either the old manifold or a set of brand new Dutra Duels? Can the use of this product in anyway cause a peoblem? Thanks for any/ all input

I've used it (normal stuff), and it's worked pretty good for me............. (drums, wheels, suspension components) Normal POR-15 can't take heat (tried it on exhaust system) and eventually flakes off. Haven't used the manifold stuff, so can't say how that works. And it's true if you let the normal stuff dry on your hands, it doesn't come off, you have to wait until it wears off with your old skin................ |

I did my trunk with it and was able to paint over it. The trunk had the usual rust. I was pleased and would use it again. In fact I may try their engine paint next time I paint an engine. I would like to hear how the high temp stuff holds up from someone who has used it though. John |

I remember reading a post on moparts, comparing por15 and another (eastwoods I think). The guy owned a boat, and he painted one item on his boat with por15 and another with the eastwood paint. These were parts that would continously be submerged in salt water. Long story short, the por15 painted part failed miserably, rusting badly. The other didn't. |

Sounds like the eastwood. I haven't tried the eastwood, but there was a comparison test in Auto Restorer and eastwood's won. BTW, Auto Restorer doesn't have ads and seems to be objective. |

the thing with the por-15 is there has to be rust there to begin with. if the metal is clean por-15 recommends using regular paint/primer. i used it on the floors of my swinger and it turned out ok, but will scrape off like any other paint if you try hard enough. -james |
