Post subject:  BBD: EGR Amp/Diverter Valve ?Question?

I have a 1977 Volare Super-Six, and I got a rebuilt carb to put in this week. The old Carter BBD had vacuum connections for the Charcoal Cannister, the Temperature sensor, the EGR Amp.

It wasn't until I put the new one on that I saw the it only has the Cannister, and Temp sensor, but is missing the EGR connection, but on the other side has a connection for a "Diverter Valve." When does that one come on? Can I use it for the EGR Amp connection?

Thanks

No, the diverter valve vacuum port is plain old manifold vacuum. It won't work correctly to feed your EGR vacuum amplifier, which has a unique need to see venturi vacuum from the carburetor. If you intend keeping your EGR operational, you will need a carburetor with a venturi vacuum tap.
