| Post subject: | BBD: EGR Amp/Diverter Valve ?Question? |
I have a 1977 Volare Super-Six, and I got a rebuilt carb to put in this week. The old Carter BBD had vacuum connections for the Charcoal Cannister, the Temperature sensor, the EGR Amp. It wasn't until I put the new one on that I saw the it only has the Cannister, and Temp sensor, but is missing the EGR connection, but on the other side has a connection for a "Diverter Valve." When does that one come on? Can I use it for the EGR Amp connection? Thanks |

No, the diverter valve vacuum port is plain old manifold vacuum. It won't work correctly to feed your EGR vacuum amplifier, which has a unique need to see venturi vacuum from the carburetor. If you intend keeping your EGR operational, you will need a carburetor with a venturi vacuum tap. |
