Probably not the first time it's been asked, but what would a 225 slant/6 engine weigh? This would actually be a long block, no intake/exhaust, carb or externals.

Post subject:  Round numbers.

Shipping on a block with crank and pistions only is 325lb Add in the cam, timing set, oil pump, valve train, damper, and head (bare head is about 80 lb) We'll easily hit 450lb dry without the manifolds give or take.

Not something you want to lift on your own.

I have weighed almost all the components of a 225 individually - mid 60s-early 70s. Your mileage may vary...

crank - 71-76lbs
rods/pistons - 20-25lbs
block - 165-168lbs
head (complete) - 76-80lbs
cam - about 10lbs

Add in extras like oil pan, valve cover, rocker train, damper, oil pump/pickup, and you're up around 380lbs for a "long blocK." 75-up heads weigh more. Cast crank motors weigh a bit less. Early 60s cranks are as much as 90lbs some have reported.
