| Post subject: | Ignition up-grade ? |
Hi, I need a little help with wires. I have a 1966 valiant 170 with origonal points distributor. I got a distributor from a 1978 Volare super six and the 4 pin connector to the ignition box. I bought a new 4 pin box from advanced auto ( black $23 ) mounted it to the fender using strar lock washers and a ground strap to the eng block just to be sure. I am going to set my timming first than line up the marks so the rotor is pointing to number one, it schould be easy for me to line up the electronic distributor and slide it in place. My proble is with wires. I know the orange and grey with black stripe go to the new distributor ( special connector on the end ). The green wire is not used no pin on moduel. The black wire with the yellow stripe has a eyelet on the end with a D shaped hole , does that go to the - side of the coil where the old dist wire was connected? I am pretty sure it does , I just want to make sure. The last wire is blue , I am not sure where to connect this, I thought it was ignition hot? I think I am supposed to connect it to the 12 volt ignition side of my ballast resistor? Is that true and how do I determine that? , I have a stick light. My ballast resistor is mounted vertically, a brown wire and a black wire on the top. The bottom connector of the resistor has a blue wire and a blue wire with a white stripe. Do I just tap into one of the blue wires on my ballast resistor with the blue wire from my new electronic ingition module? Thanks in advance for your advice, I am really looking foreward to this up-grade going smoothly. Steve |
