Post subject:  New guy starting a project

Hi, I joined the site a while ago but I've been busy reading up on old (and current) posts and all the articles avaliable. I have a 74 dart that I am in the process of gutting and putting back together. I am starting to work on the engine right now and well here's my plan, be gentle:

-It's already bored .040 over
-I am going to get the bigger valves put in, 1.75 and 1.44 right?
-Stiffer springs, I don't know if it was a deal or not but I got the ones that are on ebay all the time
-I think I'd like to leave the compression stock, you'll find out why in a minute
-80's k-car alternator, I already have the bracket and I won't buy the alt. from autozone, I promise
-I was really intrigued by the turbo article and I want to do that but I need to find someone to weld the flange; I live in Tucson!
-For an intake I'd really like to find one of those lynx single dcoe intakes, one was on ebay a while back and I missed my chance there, so I'm trying to find another one. I called one place in CA but they only sold the triple, the other website is in RI that was mentioned on the site and that will have to wait till monday
-I'm up in the air on the HEI or an MSD for ignition
-Finally I have no idea what type of cam to use with all this and I read one post where gearhead told this guy what to do and the people at comp cams said I was nuts when I said that I wanted that grind.
-I still need to figure out what my axle is and what the gear ratio is running, I'd like to run into a shuregrip 7-1/4, but I'll throw anything with a good ratio and reliability back there.
-I already rebuilt my 904 and put a shift kit in it. It was in sore need of new friction discs

But I know that purpose/usage is big around here so I'll give you the run down on that real quick. It's my first car, and I can't bear to get rid of it, so I'm dealing with all the rust it has (car not motor) and trying to do something really interesting with it. It doesn't have to be the quickest, win car show awards or bring in money at the drag strip but I'd like to take it to all three occasionally and drive it part time at least. I'd also like to get a little better gas mileage than my 4x4 1500 hemi ram. That kind of looks like a pipe dream after reading over my list above though.

Well, any advice/critisism is welcritisismknow I tried to do my homework at least! Oh and I'll try to put some pictures in within a few days. I know Ilike seeing pictures.
