My cam says 0.010 for intake and 0.012 for exhaust. Is this an OK setting to start with, knowing they need to be readjusted when they are warm. I just need to break in the cam for about 20 minutes and I need a setting to allow it to run at about 2000 RPM for that period of time.

Thanks,

Adjust them to 0.013 and 0.016 cold and that will get you pretty close to the hot settings.

The CompCams factory Rep says the cold settings should be 0.006(I) and 0.008(E). I am confused, should the valves be set looser when cold or tighter?

When the engine warms up, it'll tighten up a bit, then it will be close enough for the break in, then you can relash it to spec if needed...even then the lash spec for that comp cam isn't the best either...

Is there a better setting for the lash than the 0.010(I) and 0.012(E) on the cam card?

They need to be set looser when cold, not tighter. The guy you talked to wasn't paying attention or didn't care or didn't know what the heck he's talking about.

Every time I hear another story like this, my distaste for Comp Cams as a company grows.
