South Georgia Motorsports Park, Is going to have a Mopar show/drag race on Menorial Day weekend, May 26.27.28, 2006. The 2006 Mopar Southern Nationals. I spoke to the track owner, and he is interested in haveing a Slant Six Race. I am going to put Seymour in touch with him. Can we get enough support, to make it happen? Nice place only a couple of years old. The teack in 32 miles north of the Georgia/Florida state line. The track is visible from I-75. http://www.sgmpracing.com/ |

To be determined. Their flyer states 1/8, but Glen, said they might do 1/4. As of now tentitive plans are Super pro, Pro, Street, and truck. Will add slant six if there is support for it. Things are not finalized, but they wanted to get the word out as early as possible. As for the slant six details, it will be up to Glen and Seymour. I will help if I can. |

If it falls the week before or after Bristol then the Drake clan will have to decline. With the business as busy as it is I can not afford to take two weeks off in a row and Bristol is my first choice. Tom |

Dusty, I don't know, how many cars we would need. That is something that will have to be worked out. Tom, no problem, I fully understand. There are cars from up your way, PA, OH, etc that would not come down this far. By the same token, there are cars from down here, that would like a slant race, but are not willing to travel 8-10 hours. I'm just trying to get a race closer to us, and see if it will work. You know how it is, people say "yes, we want one, I'll come", but then when the time comes, they have other things going on. If we don't try, we'll never know. |

If you can find one not up next to an exisiting race, or late in the fall, I would support it...no problem. But back to back races, even one week apart, are hard for me to make. |

I keep hoping, the will move the Don Garlits Mopar show/swap meet to a race track. That is always the first weekend of Nov. But I don't know if that will ever happen. |

Sounds interesting. I'll do my best to get my fuel injection working in time to enter. |

Hey just talked to Dale and he talked to Seymour and it looks like we are going to loose the Hamilton race and the Clay City race next year. The Hamilton race may go to Cleves which is about 15 miles from Hamilton. Also said Bristol might be in Oct next year. This could open up a lot of possible new races. This is not offical but stay tuned. The south Ga race would be a good race for us about 300 miles. Thanks Ron Hey Has That Thing Got A Bagel Bamboozler In It |

wow, no Clay City & No Slants. That's like NHRA saying "No US Nationals". Clay City has always been a favorite of the Slant guys. That's going to be a tough loss to the track & racers alike. Seymour & I talked a week ago and he mentioned that possibility. Guess you really need to look at locality to the racers with Fuel prices along with everything else going UP. What ever happened to the Atlanta Slant race? That's a possibility for you guys. It would be nice to see the series hooked up with the Nats or Classic events. Some of those are a bit out of the way also though. A big name track is nice but you also want to go where your appreciated and highlighted as a special race not just an afterthought. My feelings are that a comfortable setting, with qualifing runs and a Slant race in itsself is what you want. You may find that at some of the smaller Mopar meets like GA., Brainard, Farmington, Atlanta, Bristol, Clay City and many more that have a 1-2 day event. |

Hey Charrlie, Is Lawrence Roundtree and the Moparts Connection back in the picture now, or is there another Mopar sponsor? If you put something together I'll pitch in something worthwhile for a purse. It sounds like some potentially big changes for the series next year, especially Clay City. This may be a good opportunity for more local racers to put something together like the divisional/regional concept that has been discussed. I am still going to try to make it back to the U.S. for an event or two next year, so I'll be keeping my eye on what shakes out. Has anyone received the November issue of SSRN yet? I heard from DusterIdiot... He is home safe and enjoying time with his family. |
