Just fired up a fresh rebuild with a Holley 390 and it won't idle below 1500 RPM. The idle stop is loose, so it isn't that. Any ideas?

Vacuum leak, throttle linkage too tight, or the secondary's cracked open.

too much carb for your car, at least on the idle circuit??? inspect how much of the idle transfer slot is showing under the blades. Does your car stalls if you close one needle all the way down? if not, idle's too rich, you may need to drill the blades. Start with 1/32" and go by 32"s till it idles fine and you can actually kill the engine by closing one idle needle all the way down.

Sounds more like a vacuum leak to me. I did manifold swap and had hella leaks where it sealed w/ the head and had a very similar problem. Redid it properly and the problem went away.
