thinking of buying a 72 slant. if i remember correctly these engines were built for use with unleaded gasoline, correct? does an owner need to add anything to the gas tank of a 72 or will it do fine with modern day 87?
thanks

1972 was the first year for factory-hardened exhaust valves; unleaded presents no problem.

The owners manual for my '72 Satellite (somewhere around here) says unleaded is safe to use with the slant six because of induction hardened exaust seats. I ran my original engine 80+ miles a day at 65-70mph and never had valve seat recession. Nor on the '73 engine currently residing between the fenders.
