Always useful information here. Thanks for answers to questions I don't even ask. My question is on my slant 6 1982 1/2 manual trans, I changed it to a super 6. The dist has a single pickup do I need to change that also to get the best preformance out of it?

If the distributor has a vacumn can on it, you don't need to change it out. However you might want to try changing the advance curve. There has been a lot of discussion about this. Do a search. If you do not have a vacumn can, then yes change the distributor. The dist w/o the can is for the "lean burn" and has no advance mechanism in it. All the timing was done by the computer, and there is no way for you to modify the built in timing curve, if it even still works, at all.
