Pep Boys auto parts store have the Carter super six rebilt carb for sale at $75

it is the Carter two barrel carb re-bilt by Champion company and sold through Pep Boys

Pep Boys part number 9172135

Champion part number 14-143

Both pep boys and champion say that its for an Aspen with the super six set up.

So it should work

But my question is does it need to be re-jetted to get the best performance?? As I have herd that some years of the origional Aspen or Volori super six carbs had econimy jets.

Any idears ?? What is the best size of jets ? 120s?

It's going onto a 76 dart 225 slant
with super six, 2 1/4 inch ex pipe, new head with mild porting.
everything else stock
a streat car.

many thanks

Just say no to parts store rebuilt carbs. You will not be happy, I promise. I have one on my truck now (I believe it is a champion) and when I took it apart I found the power valve stripped out and laying in the bottom of the float bowl. That's the second one. The first one I had to claim on warrenty after the accelerator pump linkage snapped in half.

Post subject:  Ouch...

My local mom and pop store stopped carrying rebuilt carbs, due to the quality being so bad that they had an 80% return rate right out of the box...

Hope the one you bought is in good shape.

1) Not a rebuilt, it's a "remanufactured" unit. That's not better than rebuilt, it's markedly worse.

2) Neither rebuilt nor remanufactured carburetors are "new".

No.

The super six carb is so easy to rebuild that a $15 kit at autozone and a hour of your time is all that is needed.

Instructions are super easy to follow...Buy a couple cans of carb cleaner a really small scrub brush and one the size of a bar of soap...

If you have a decent core you do not have to worry about stripped threads and broken parts.

You can still get these carbs used at junk yards, ebay...on here...I am sure that there are lots of decent carb guys (even on here) that would put a kit in a carb for you...

No need to buy a junk reman carb.. not yet
