Hey there

I'm a li'l bit confused. I took a glance at the mopar rear axle spotters guide and I can't sitill figure out what's on my hands.

I have a DANA 44 rear axle, geared 14/43 (3.07) shafts has 30 splines

I got a DANA 30 rear axle geared 3.31 (13/43) and that's the ratio I want.

Both rear axles have 10 bolt pattern, and the DANA 30 looks pretty much like the american 8 1/4". The DANA 44 is slightly bigger. D30 has 27 splines and the shaft is about 2 mm thinner. Bearings are the same. Pinion and that stuff is slightly (slightly) smaller. I know that Chrysler fevre (argentina) used to put those DANA 30 axles on their 318 untill 75 when they swithced to DANA 44 for all models.

The 30 has manual regulation brake pads, the 44 has self adjusting cyls which I hate cuz they always squeak when you're in town traffic and yu tend to mild-hard brake frequently. Manual adjusting pads don do that.

My slant is street mill, prety mild yet not so wild. I'd say is putting around 200 horses at the crank.

Suggestions??

I guess I don't understand the question. For your application, either unit should work fine. If the Dana 30 has two things you like ( manual adjusting brakes and lower ratio ) and the one currently in your car has things you don't like then make the swap. If the pinion yoke fits your rear U-joint and the housing width and position of the spring perches is the same it should be an easy swap.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.
