I have been driving the Dart now again for about 1 1/2 months after it had sat for about a year with minimal use. When I first started driving it it started up and would idle there kinda puff puff puffing puff puff but no discharge from the tail pipe. Now it sounds the same but there is a splatter on the ground of black soot or oil and a water splatter mix. It is staining the garage floor right below the tail pipe and seems to be . It runs fine at higher speeds but still kinda misses(puff puff) a bit idleing. I changed all the fluids out before I started driving it again. So does any one know what this might be? Thank you.

If this only occurs when the engine's cold, the choke and choke pull-off need attention (inspection, testing and adjustment).

If it's when the engine's cold or hot, add the heat riser valve, PCV system and carburetor to the list of devices to inspect, test and service as needed.

It looks like this.... Image

Some other folks were saying it could simply be condensation and soot run-off from running rich and it getting wintry.

Wow, white dart, same black spot, that looks so much like my own driveway its not even funny.
However, as I had so many other things going on with the car I never really worried about it.
Is there a special term for this, or is "black gook coming out the tailpipe" pretty much the universal phrasology?
