I am building a T bucket useing a slant six and a 904. I am to the point of building throttle and kickdown linkage, the throttle is no problem,but I need to know at what point in the throttles travel does the kickdown lever begin to move. The illustrations and instructions in the repair manuals are no help because they all are aimed at factory linkage. I am not useing any of the factory linkage. only the lever on the Transmission.
Any help would be appreciated.

Start out w/ full throttle corresponding to full throw on the kickdown and adjust from there. As far as I know, there isn't a definative answer as to what is "right" for every combination out there.

if you have a better idea or method, pony up 'guest' and give it. instead of your comments give a better way to do it. mine is NOT a better way, just more detailed.

first, make sure you have the front band correctly adjusted. make sure whatever linkage or cable you are using gives full application of the 'kick down' lever @ full throttle.

go drive it. if the shift points are too high give your lever a little more slack. if the shifts come too late, go back and make sure the lever is moving all the way back freely when the throttle is applied.

as stated before, there is no standard way to do it. car weight, stall speed, gear ratio, tranny condition and engine tune are all variables which come into play.
