Hope the link works.
Also, are there any slanters from utah on this site??? I have seen like a early 60's Valiant driving around in my area before but I doubt that he/she is on this board.

Thanks. The story is, my dad was traveling for business in a place called Morgan, Utah, and he saw the car parked on someones lawn for sale!!! He came home and told me about it. He said it was a 1972 Plymouth Valiant with a slant six. I said, "what? What's a Valiant and what's a slant six"? He didn't know either. So I decided to go check it out (30 minute drive). We got there, checked it out, and we called the guy. He came down and I bought it for $2,250 and drove it home the next day!!! I was never into cars then, but now I am.
Now, whenever at a stoplight or just cruising, i'm always taunted by ricers and other cars to race. I just look at them and drive like a grandma to piss them off. It's hilarious. I can't wait for the day when I will have the slant all hopped up and then I will blow the paint off all cars that taunt me!!! 8)
Thanks

Well, i'm not planning on putting on a supercharger or turbo on it, mainly because I have no fabricating abilities whatsoever, so I would have to pay someone to do all the work and that would cost alot of money. I want a setup that may run around the 13's without nitrous and power adders if possible.

I have an a body width 8 3/4 rearend in my garage just sitting on a shelf, as well as a barely broken in third member (489 case, 3.55 suregrip). Not sure what else I will need besides shock plates, u-bolts, a shortened driveshaft, and the correct yokes (I think that's what they are called) to hook up the driveshaft to my rearend and trans. (a904). I also plan on putting fatter tires and rims on the valiant, cragars are what I have decided with bf goodrich radials.

Also, sitting in a crate on my shelf is a performance head that I bought a while back from a guy named Mike Schwochert. He has a website of his turbo'd slant six. A link to his page is at the bottom of this post. Anyways, it had around $1,000 in the head. The things that I remember that were done to it were: Phord valves that were swirl polished, blended bowls, porting (I think?), and some other things that I can't remember. I plan on getting around 9.5:1 compression, so, from what I have gathered, I will need to shave the head .100. Better ratio roller rockers also, maybe 1.6:1 or 1.7:1.
I have been thinking if I should send it to someone to do some more work on it, but i'm not sure?

My car also is completely stock right now, so it still has the points and stuff. I plan on switching that stuff out for an Msd Blaster 2 coil, an Msd 6al, good spark plug wires (maybe Msd's as well?), and I think a mopar performance electronic distributor with vacuum advance. I don't know of a better ignition setup, so if anybody knows of a better one, then let me know please.

I plan on getting an offenhauser intake with a 500 edel. Hoping to somehow get the offy intake heated because this is my daily driver and I live in utah, so winter gets pretty cold. Clifford headers for a true dual exhaust with an x-pipe and flowmaster 40's. From what I gather, 2 1/4-2 1/2" piping is a good size exhaust. I am hoping to get a really nice exhaust sound, like that of a v8.

Beefing up my 904 will also be another thing. I guess what I will need to do that will be some clutches and some other things. I don't know exactly what I need. A better torque converter also. Just hope to beef it up, firm up shifts, and other things.

A windage tray, electric fan(s), a very good cam (maybe cliffords 268 mech. "torque monster" cam (268 DUR., 222 AT .050 DUR., .477 LIFT, 2200-5000 RPM’S, PEAK TORQUE AT 3300 RPM’S. TORQUE OFF IDLE.) Double roller timing chain, and a front disk brake conversion.

This is all that comes to mind right now. If there are any other things that I can do to make my car run in the 13's or less without nos and power adders, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

If you read it, you will find a part where he says that he is going to put a better head on the engine and then see how it runs, well, THAT'S THE HEAD THAT IS SITTING IN MY GARAGE!!!! The last I heard of him, he moved to Arizona (I think) and he now works at HUGHES PERFORMANCE. The only reason he sold it was because the buyer of his valiant didn't want any performance parts.

Well, i'm not sure how good a stock slant is supposed to run, but, it does run :) good :) !!! The only problems I have had are putting in a new battery and replacing the original alternator. Do my plans for my car sound worthy for around 13 in the 1/4?
