If nothing else, this makes very interesting reading. I guess it make sense that somebody would've had the idea of hooking an electronically-controllable carburetor not to an O2S but to a dashboard dial. And it makes sense that Holley would've been the ones to put it out. But I'd never heard of this before.

That looks liek it is basically a feedback carb with a manual variable resistor to contorl the pulses to the solenoid. I have read about people doing the same thing with Holley 6200 feedback carbs on k-cars. The only effect it would really have is being the equivalent of changing the main metering jet size while you drove.

Used in conjunction with an air/fuel meter you should be able to optimize your mixture as you drive. Not the fine, real time control of ecu but potentially better than a carburetor alone.

I just finished looking over a section of one of the new edition holley books and they even have "quarter mile dial" stuff for draggin' too....
