Post subject:  slantsix to SB727 trany plate..any sources?

Hello all.

Im working on a 4x4 trail crawler project ramcharger and it has a VERY tired 318 in it now. I have a rebuilt slant as well as a good low milage slant just sitting in my grarage waiting for a project like this. Does anyone know of a source for those adapter plates that let you bolt a 225 to a SB bell?

The truck isnt used for towing at all so the 225 would be plenty power i would think..heck i get by now and the 318 is so beat it can hardly hold 65mph.

www.arengineering.com- $400 for a kit.

There is one on e-bay right now too: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/slant-si ... enameZWDVW

Better be quick though.

Otherwise you are looking for an original set. Search www.sweptline.org, www.vannin.com, and here and .com

www.car-part.com might help, and www.wildcatmopars.com might have as et (but cost too much).

Where are you located at?? You said that you may be looking for a replacement 318?? Are you anywhere near Chicago?? If so I can help you. Drop in&drive. (Oh, you may have to swap the oil pan&pickup tube from your present engine, car pans are different... I know you would on a 2WD, might get away with it on a 4WD, different crossmember)

volardon: im in connecticut :(

Reed: Thanks but I could only guess as to how much it would cost to shipp a 727 from WV to CT...prob alot

Good news is i think i already have a line on a slant 727 and engine still in a truck local here. Now that i think about it getting a whole parts truck is gona be the only way since i need to get the mounts too. :?

Actually, I am in Washington, not West Virginia. Shipping would be even more!

Motor mounts are the only thing you will need to really change, the oil pan from a car will work fine, but you might want the deeper truck/van oil sump for off-roading. Just buy the engine/trans and all mounts form the parts truck.

hey Reed, what kind of shifter did that /6-727 trans use? floor, collum, button?

Right now it is installed in a column shift van. I don't really thin it makes a difference as to whaft shift linkage the transission is originally installed with, just so long as whateer it is installed in correctly moes the little arm on the side of the tranny.

I am not sure when I will be getting this transmission. It is currently in my brother's van and he is someday going to drop it off at my house so I can rebuild his transmission for him. I am going to just pull it and replace it with a better one, but I just don't know when it will happen.

I was hoping to find a push button 727 for a /6, but I don't know if they even made those. and if I understand correctly, the push button thing is integral to the trans case?

Nope, never made. You'd have to adapt a small block PB 727 with one of Andy's kits.

Or get a conversion cable from A & A Transmission. :)
