alright kids, i have just rebuilt my 225 .060 over and stock cam pretty much. i put 302 ford intake valves and a 289 exhaust valves. new springs and all that. i have a super six manifold and a carter bbd. this seems kinda strange but this motor is really thirsty. i would rejet it but my dad has a brand new 390 holley 4 bbl he just bought and said if i needed it i can have it i want to use it and i already bought the adapter. what is the best way to dial this carb in. will i net to rejet it. i would like mpg but im a 17 year old who really wants the smiles rather than the mpg. maybe small primaries/huge secondaries. i dont know thanks for reading dustin |

those 2/4bbl adaptors dont work very will, better cutting and welding a new 4bbl top for cast intake or finding a 4bbl alumium one. you will need to jet the carb to match your comb. have fun. |

What type of "rod" did you bend? A push rod or a connecting rod?DD |

i have a stock cam and i bent a pushrod we were off doing something else while the car was running and it sounded like it locked up just shut off so we turn around and try to start it back and nothing so we pulled the valve cover and #3 rocker is off pushrod pulled it and its bent they are the original pushrods would this be common since i redid the head with new springs and it was too much for the pushrod or what? only shaved the head .030 so its shouldnt be too much right? |

Did you get the rocker shaft mounting hold-downs on the shaft in the correct order? That one got me - they look like they're all the same size, but they're not. I put a too-long one in the wrong space and it pinched a rocker so it stayed open. |

That was kinda what I figured you'd find. You do not have near enough valve spring to bend stock pushrods. Make sure all your rockers are oiling when you start it back up. |
