hey, i was wondering if the MPI throttle body off of the ford 6 and 8 cyl engines that has the 2 bbls would be a good swap onto the super six intake. it has the Fidle solenoid already on it. i think it would be pretty easy to make an adapter plate. does anyone know what you could do for the kickdown linkage? throttle hookup? maybe the lokar universal kickdown for the kickdown linkage. does the 2bbl throttle body flow more than a 1bbl throttle body would? thanks casey |

OK if I jump in and postulate with no experience related to this TB? I bet that TB is fine on a Super 6 manifold as far as flow and adaptability. The size will suit a modified slant,,,,with flow #s close to the 300" 6 the TB came from.... If you find the linkage issues to be a problem dont even start on this project till you read for a week and find a good machine shop with a good guy to communicate with. The big deal is going to be how you measure the amount af air entering the motor. A MAP sensor system or MAF system will react differently to the flow/manifold/TB changes. The MAP sensor will adapt best....MAF for an ideal setup. |

i'm pretty sure i'm going with the megasquirt setup. i'm not sure which version yet, i'll see what the budget allows. i just got a set of 2002 4.0 injectors with 41000 mi for $10 off of ebay. i have all of my parts lined up at the local u-pull it. i might get some parts for free from a friends wrecked jeep too. will the lokar linkage not work on it? thanks for the input! casey |

My injected setup is using a Lokar linkage - although unlike the usual setup, mine runs from the gas pedal to the tranny rather than the throttle body to tranny. You might be able to jury-rig your own using a long throttle cable, too, if you can fab up a suitable mount. My buildup uses a large single barrel throttle body off a Ford 4.6, mounted to a Clifford manifold with a 90 degree adapter built out of part of the stock Ford manifold welded to an aluminum plate. I don't have a fast idle mechanism on it yet - I'll have to see if this is necessary or not. I'm not sure what the throttle area on the 2-bbl body is, but if the plate sizes are close to the hole sizes on a Super Six manifold, it may be a good choice. |
