| Post subject: | Super six vs Clifford intake? |
I've got a Clifford aluminum intake and wondered if there was anything better/worse about using it over a cast iron super six intake? I've heard opinions both ways locally and wondered what this group might add? My car is a daily driver wagon with a basically stock engine and 904 automatic....advice? Also, is the super six logo on the air cleaners a decal or removable metal disc? I'd like to run one on my air cleaner which is the old style small round one without the snorkel. If it's a decal, any idea where to get one? |

I have never had my car dyno'd before and after, but just based on feel I think that the stock Super Six intake with modified Datsun carb adapter (about 1.5" spacer) and Weber DGEV gave better low end torque than using my Clifford water heated intake with DGEV 2bbl top plate. I don't know if this is because of the spacer or the smaller cross-sectional area of the runners on the stock intake compared to the Clifford's large area runners (small runners kept the velocity up better?). Anways, for simplicity (no adapter), I am still using the Clifford intake. I never had a BBD for my Super Six since the one I got was in such poor shape with missing linkage. That's the reason I used a DGEV in the first place. So, my long winded answer is that I think the Super Six is better on a street-driven car with carburetor. |

For purely economic reasons, I would suggest the supersix intake. No adapter plate and you can keep your old exhaust manifold. |

I'm sure Year One or The Paddock would have the Super Six decal that you are looking for. |

If you are doing nothing fancy, just a daily driver I would use the SS manifold and a BBD or Holley. The Clifford gives up way too much low end torque on a stock type engine. |
