Well here's my pet project for the last few years. I got the car for $1400 when I was 15 with 60,000 original miles out of some old guys garage (no rust either wuwu!). Now I'm 22 and haven't had time to touch it in over 2 years. This was shortly after I painted it in the garage my senior year of high school. I recently pulled the motor and trans which throughout the year will be getting a full power treatment rebuild (I live 3 hours away from my dad's shop and have no way to work on it where I live, so I only work on it once a month or so when I get to go home).

I will also be pulling the rear suspension in favor of an air bagged 4-link and the torsion bars for air as well. I have some 17" American Racing Hopster wheels for the front and 18s for the back.

I also am trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the tail lights as those things are hideous! I'll probably fill in the sheetmetal and create a hidden LED light system (put the LEDs in the back covered with plexiglass and then paint over the plexiglass. The Lights are hidden but will show through the paint when lit).

I think at this point I'm just going to build up the A904 trans for it. I really kind of want to convert it to manual but I'll start with the auto since I have it. I'm currently looking for a decent machine shop in my area to do the race port and polish along with the big valve install. So far no one has any experience with the 225 head in my area so they are kind of iffy on what they will do with it. Hopefully I can get the car to dip into the high 12s on the juice :).

Should turn into a pretty good build up by the time I'm through with it :). Be sure to send those tips and comments, I'm always looking for new ideas!

Ain't gonna work. Not nearly bright enough, not nearly good enough visibility through the correct angle range. If you're going to drive this car on the street, please proceed carefully with whatever lamp mods you make. Even the slickest-looking setup, if it doesn't provide adequate safety performance, will look like crud when some SUV-driving, celphone-blabbing bimbo hits your car and crunches the lights into little bitty pieces.

Thats exactly why I have no idea what exactly I'm going to do with it. I've thought of a lot of slick setups so far, but none of them are safe enough yet. So I'm still brainstorming. Al I know is those stock lights are gross and gotta go!

I'll think of something :). (ideas welcome)

Hey Rosspulliam,

I'm in the same boat ! I'm rebuilding my 75 swinger - HATE the tail lights !!! I've been thinking about this for 6 years - since I bought the car.
I purchased a small mig welder this past summer and now have the means to make a change. I've spent many an hour recently wandering the local boneyard. Many many mopars from the 50's to the present !!! Lots O slant sixes too :D .
No diffinative plans yet , one idea is to take the square tail lights off a late sixties dart or charger. I saw some cool tail lights on a "300" but if they broke replacement would be tough.

Still planning/ measuring.

Will keep you informed,

jeff
