Prior to getting down to work on my vehicles this spring I am gathering parts and wondered:

Head Gaskets for Aluminum Slants: Any possible sources for them? I know they are discontinued and I remember seeing a post somewhere on here about some aftermarket availability. Anyone know?

Also Manifold Gaskets, I recall a post about preferences. I have used the Felpro however I seem to recall that NAPA produces a slightly thicker, more forgiving version. I checked their site and they offer two, the pictures are terrible so no way to tell which is the best one. Any ideas?

Hope these were posts that I recall and not articles.......if they were articles my appoloigies in advance and I will get right down to reading :lol:

I like Felpro intake gaskets, but others (Victor...) seem to work fine too.

Al engine head gaskets can now be had from Kanter Auto products for $150 incl the complete engine kit. I just bought one.

As for as manifold gaskets Cox bros there in Columbus Ohio i have run the same one three years with many intake on and offs. There about 3 times thicker than a felpro. Cox Bros Fabrication Columbus Ohio 614-268-9920 That is the ticket Thanks Ron Parker :D

I'm not sure what the story is with clifford now but a few months ago I bought 2 of theirs. They are made of thick white material that seals well with headers even and holds up to multiple assemble-disassemble cycles. At the time I was looking it was a bit cheaper then cox and they had them instock.

Pretty sure the thick white gasket Clifford's selling (for how much?) is just a repackaged Mr. Gasket number 320. If you don't need special-fancy, get the NAPA MS-16030 manifold gasket set. Has a well-made manifold-to-head gasket, but the rectangular gasket for between the intake and exhaust manifolds at the "hot spot" is the same stamped steel junk everyone else sells. The old composition "sandwich" gasket for that location was far, far better but nobody supplies them any longer in North America. Old stock gasket places (see below) will have 'em; the cross reference is Chrysler 2206120.

Aluminum-engine head gaskets can be had expensively from Kanter or less expensively from the old-stock gasket speciality places that advertise in Hemmings. Gerald Lettieri, Olson's Gaskets, etc. Those places also stock the rear main seal kit unique to the aluminum engine.

Aftermarket head gasket: Yes, I'm beginning work on pestering Cometic to make these. It'll be an uphill fight but I'll see what I can do.

I lied - I just looked at it - its not all white. The faces are black with white specs (kind of like a black/white marble countertop?) and only the edge of the material where it has been cut is a white. This doesn't look like the typical mr. gasket solid white (pale yellow?) gasket.

Website shows them at $13 each. Off the top of my head total cost to me (in CA, east of San Francisco) for 2 pieces was in the low $30 range

napaonline.com shows two - SGAMS6030 $10.49 and NGAMS16030 $12.49 Not sure what the difference is, pictures look the same.

I wouldn't hesitate to spend slightly more money for the clifford piece seeing as how mine has currently preformed. Although, if you need it quick, I'd probably get the napa one.

I also have some detroit ones that came with my gasket sets that look beefy - steel mesh coated on both sides with a heavy solid material that appears will hold up well.
