does anyone kno where I can get a good check valve for the oil pump. I mean the tube that screws into the base & the oil filter screws onto, w. a check valve to keep the filter from draining? my check valve broke

I would try a Mopar dealer, call it out as an 86 SL6 truck. These have a tube that is a little shorter but the valve is the same.
Your next option is to get a used one out of a junkyard or a fellow SL6er.
