What is the best rocker arm avaible for a 225? I am getting ready to pull the six this week, and rebuild as money allows. I'm doing a body off restoration on her. I am shooting for as much horsepower as possible.

When rebulding as money allows one generally uses the least worn rocker arms in the slant pile. A sort of "12 best of 100" approach. These will be good up to 250 HP....then you need to spend more money.

I dont recommend body off restorations on A bodies,,,,,,

I do like the idea of shooting for as much Horsepower as money allows.

You do have a slant pile dont you?

There are also RAS Roller Rockers that you can get from the Cox Bros. Image

That image is from James Longhurst...his rocker arms on Lou's car, I believe: http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... kers#95293

That's a very difficult route to take, to say the least.

I haven't decided for certain that a body off is going to happen, but the poor car needs it. I have a starting bank account of a grand now, and by may I should have three times that. I am shooting for 300 or so. I am going to have to replace the entire floor area, and the trunk floor, and the quarter panels. This week however the engine is going to be pulled, disassembled and then bored over .080, the head milled, ported and polished.

Oh, OK, now I understand. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Don't know how many sets he has left, but he did have many. I got two sets from him at the 39.99 price.

So if I was shooting for maximun horsepower, these rocker arms would be the ones?

So exactly how does someone perform a body off resto on a car that doesn't have a frame. The only full framed vehicles to get the slant were the truck lines.

No, maximum power you would want the roller rockers, but the rest of the engine would have to be built accordingly. You really don't need anything more the stock rockers in good condition, for 90 % of slant six buildups. If your going to build a full boogie race motor, then use the roller rockers (about $400-500), and the rest of the engine would cost about $5,000. Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go? You can build a very nice, potent slant for $1,000-$2,000.

I want to go pretty fast. I would like to get as much as possible, but it won't cost me 5 grand, because I have an uncle that owns a garage that said he could get the parts that I would need.

Charlie S., What would be the parts list for your 2 grand build, and what type of numbers would that produce. This week I might buy a super six intake, and a new carb. Would a four-barrel be better, or a deuce?

First off, what kind of car, and how do you want to use it? Strickly street, street and strip, strip only, road race? Standard shift or auto? Anything I recommend is my theory, others will have other ideas.
