Due to a serious of unfortunate events, I spent three hours last night doing an emergency swap to a two barrel setup on my van. The only uncracked two barrel intake I had was the homemade one.

I installed the rebuilt Super Six specific Carter BBD i had and I am happy to report that at idle I am pulling 18 inches of steady vacuum. The engine spinds right up to 5000 RPM in neutral with no problem. It appears that the manifold was constructed with no leaks.

The real test comes today when I start driving it. I will post how it runs.

An interesting side note is that I discovered that the original one barrel intake installed on my van that I had thought was cast iron actually turned out to be aluminium. It is not one of those crappy e-beam welded two piece ones taht are notorious for cracking and leaking, but a rather well made apparently one piece unit. I will take a closer look tonight but I didn't see and signs of a welded seam on the machined face that contacts the cylinder head. Could be that by 86 Chrysler FINALLY figured out how to make a quality aluminium intake for the slant. Just in time for production to end the next year...
