While I was taking my BBD apart to rebuild it, I found a pair of plastic pieces sitting in the bottom if the pump housing, I didn't understand the purpose of these parts until I started putting the carb back together: They are the two arms tha actuate the metering rods. Can I get this part replaced? Or am I stuck with a half rebuilt carb I can't use? Thanks |

You could try a product like Goriolla Glue, but your best bet is to nab a new plastic tab piece from a boneyard BBD. |

I'm gonna try and fab something up, hopefully what I have in mind will work. |

Tried the Gorilla glue, wow! That stuff is tough! It's holding as of right now, we'll see how it goes, I may need to replace the carb anyhow, it's leaking a lot, and the shafts seem to have a lot play. |

Lars- if you end up replacing the carb I would be interested in purchasing your old one. Those plastic tabs are a very low stress piece so the gorilla glue should work fine (as long as the gas fumes don't dissolve it). |

I'll let you know, I may not have gotten it clean enough. I've never had good luck with Carter's, Holley's have always been better to me, course fuel injection has always treated me the best. Those plastic tabs are a very low stress piece so the gorilla glue should work fine (as long as the gas fumes don't dissolve it). |

Interesting, I have had exactly the opposite luck! |

LOL! I'm gonna hit up one of my favorite junkyards this weekend and see if they have any Holleys, maybe I'll get lucky.

I have a Holley/Motorcraft 2-barrel (2300?) off of a Ford 302. Sell it to ya' cheap if the carter doesn't work out or you can't find any other Holleys. Needs a rebuild and is greasy but other than that it is fine. |

Will the kickdown linkage fit since it's off a Ford? I'm hitting the yard today, hopefully I'll get lucky.

No, you will have to do some engineering to get the kickdown to fit or fab a new one. |

Well, no Holleys, but I scored another BBD for $15. It looks cleaner then the one I've got, I'ma give it a shot and see if it runs any better. If not they'll be up for sale on here for you guys. |
