Post subject:  Stereo help...

I know it's not directly slant six related, even though my car has one... anyway, if I'm in the wrong place just tell me so.

I've got a nice stereo in my car, and today I re-wired the rear right speaker, because the wiring on it was pretty bad. Well, I get in the car to go somewhere and turn on the radio and it sounds funny. There wasn't any bass in the system like there used to be. Checked all the settings, turned up the bass all the way, and still sounded like I was running a bunch of tiny speakers. I don't think I crossed any wires... and if I did, wouldn't the speaker not sound at all? Thanks in advance for the help...

.First question, do you have a sub?

Sounds to me like the channels got crossed somehow, maybe at the radio head itself or in the crossover (if you have one).

I'm no sound system expert, know just enough to be dangerous

no sub. The 6x9's in the back usually put out a fair amount of bass. Cross the channels? What does that mean? There's no crossover or anything. Just head unit, four speakres, and four sets of wires. And, as far as I know, I only messed with the one.

Meaby you cross-conected speaker cable of stereo output, that problem happened to me last year, but the problem was in the equalizer, I cross-conected channels.

Or mebbe you hooked them up backwards. I don't think it will cause the tinny sound but it does mess up the bass.

Yeah, sounds like you have a speaker 180* out of phase (crossed positive and negative wires). It'll cause that exact problem.
