Ever since I hoked the two barrel setup on my Duster up to the stock 1-barrel exhaust system I have noticed that my exhasut pipe is EXTREMELY hot, way hotter than it got with the one barrel. The engine is not running lean as my plugs are a nice tan color, not the blistered white they were when I had the 1-barrel setup. Is this heat buildup due to excessive backpressure? I am trying to get up enough money to install a 2 1/4 exhaust system, since you can really that stock exhaust weezing and bellering when you you start up a hill or get on it. Is it going to hurt anything to continue to run the small exhaust pipe until I get my larger exhaust installed. I don't want to burn out any gaskets or have a cracked manifold. |

Everything will be fine, Jeb. The BBD is simply a more accurate fuel metering device, so you're not wasting as much gas cooling the exhaust stream. D/W |

Are you running a cat that has perhaps become clogged or collapsed? |

To measure the backpressure in my stock '75 /6, I made up a little adaptor plate to the EGR port. I think I saw a max of 5psi & 2psi typically w/ an all stock system, but I can't remember the #s for sure - it's been too many years. I remember trying to determine if that backpressure was excessive, but finially decided it was OK and that the converter wasn't plugged. |

D/W Actually my gas mileage has went down since I changed to the two barrel. But I love the extra response too much to take it off. |
